Law No X-1663 as of 1 July 2008 Amending the Law on Agricultural and Rural Development of the Republic of Lithuania.

      Published in Valstybės Žinios (Official Gazette) No 81-3174 of 17 July 2008, will enter into force on 31 December 2008 (Article 2 entered into force on 17 July 2008).

      The said Law, amongst other amendments:

      • Established the objectives of agricultural, food sector and rural development policy, principles for the implementation of the national and European Union support for agricultural, food sector and rural development, the national and European Union support measures;

      • Provided for the state and municipal institutions, offices, other legal entities which would implement the national and European Union support measures as well as agricultural, food sector and rural development policy, manage an official agriculture and food sector statistics and the Agricultural and Rural Business Register;

      • Established that losses incurred by agricultural subjects due to natural disasters caused by atmospheric phenomena in case no insurance against such phenomena is possible shall be partly compensated in the manner as established by the Government or the institution authorised by it in concert with the European Commission.

      The primary purpose of this Newsletter is to reflect the most important new regulations and changes in the national legislation related to real estate.

      Law No X-1681 as of 3 July 2008 Amending Article 12 of the Law on State Support for Acquisition or Rent of Housing and Modernisation of Multi-Apartment Houses.

      The said Law invalidated the provision on privatisation of service residential premises on easy terms, which were owned by the state or municipalities, thus, eliminating instances of unjustified privileges for some state officials and infringement on the state property interests.
