Law No XI-927 of 22 June 2010 Amending and Supplementing Articles 76, 77, 80, 107, 108, 109, 115, 127, 147, 149, 150, 151, 202, 293, 294 of the Labour Code of the Republic of Lithuania and Supplementing it with Article 123-1 (Official Gazette (Valstybės Žinios), No 81-4221).
The purpose of amending and supplementing the Labour Code of the Republic of Lithuania is the increase of flexibility of labour relations, the promotion of establishment of new work places, harmonization of labour relation regulation with the ensuring of employee safety and the enhancement of rights thereof. The Law supplemented the definition of strike and the procedure of calling out of strike by indicating that the right to make a decision to call out for strike on the branch level is granted to the branches trade unions at the procedure established in the Articles of Association thereof, having discussed it in the tripartite council of the Republic of Lithuania.
If the employer fails to comply with his commitments settled in legal acts, labour agreement or the collective agreement for a period exceeding two months or fails to pay the total amount of salary for two succeeding months, the Law adopted the right of an employee to temporarily suspend the implementation of a labour agreement up until three months upon a written notice provided to his employer before three business days. During such period an employee must be paid minimum salary. |
