Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas said he would try to find out the motives behind the Russian Gazprom's intentions to raise natural gas prices for the Baltic states.
On Tuesday, the government head admitted he learnt about the gas giant's plans from media only.
"I did not hear anything about it. But, if this turns true, we will do our best to learn more about it. Just one month ago the gas price went down 6 percent. We have an agreement which includes the price formula too. We will try to find out the reasons behind such intentions," Brazauskas spoke.
Foreign news agencies reported earlier on Tuesday the words of Gzprom's Deputy Board Chairman Alexander Ryazanov on the concern's plans to raise gas supply prices to Baltic states. Ryazanov underlined this was related to the three Baltic nations' entry into the European Union.
