Picture tube producer Ekranas in Panevezys, which has captured a quarter of the European picture tube market, attained 42 percent higher sales in the first five months of 2004 compared to a year ago. This year Ekranas estimates record annual sales of 560 million litas (162 million euros).
The Lithuanian electronics industry recorded a yearly growth in output of 35.5 percent in 2003 and advanced 38 percent in the first quarter this year, according to the daily. The output rose, it said, in good part due to production boosts in the leading local companies.
